Creating a Channel

• Desktop
  • Click the plus icon next to Channels in the left Sidebar.
  • Select “Create a channel.”
  • Enter a channel name. If you see the option to choose a channel prefix, you can select one from the drop-down menu. Channel names must be lowercase, without spaces or periods, and shorter than 80 characters.
  • Add a description to let others know what the channel is about. 
  • (Optional) If you would like to make the channel private, click the toggle next to Make private.
  • Click “Create.”
  • Add people to the channel by typing names to select from the drop-down menu, or click “Skip” for now.
• iOS
  • Tap the “Home” tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Tap the “Plus” icon next to Channels.
  • Tap “Create” in the top-right corner.
  • (Optional) If you would like to make the channel private, click the toggle next to Make private.
  • Enter a channel name. Names must be lowercase, without spaces or periods, and shorter than 80 characters.
  • Add a description to let others know what the channel is about.
  • Tap “Create” in the top-right corner to finish.
• Android 
  • Tap the “Home” tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Tap the “Plus” icon next to Channels.
  • Tap the “Plus” icon in the bottom-right corner.
  • (Optional) If you would like to make the channel private, tap the toggle next to Make private.
  • Enter a channel name. Names must be lowercase, without spaces or periods, and shorter than 80 characters.
  • (Optional) Add members to the channel.
  • Add a description to let others know what the channel is about.
  • Tap “Create” in the top-right corner to finish.

Renaming a Channel

• Desktop
  • Open the channel you want to rename.
  • Click “Details” (information icon) in the top-right to open Channel Details.
  • Click “More” (three dots icon). 
  • Select Additional options.
  • Click “Rename this channel.”
  • Enter a new name, and then click “Rename Channel.”
• iOS and Android
  • Open the channel you want to rename.
  • Tap “Details” in the top-right.
  • Tap “Edit.”
  • Tap the channel name, then enter a new name.
  • Tap “Done.”

Deleting a Channel

• Workspace owners and admins can permanently remove a channel and all its messages from a workspace.
  • From your desktop, open the channel you want to delete. (You must join the channel if you have not already.)
  • Click “Details” (information icon) in the top-right.
  • Click “More” (three dots icon), then “Additional options.”
  • Select “Delete this channel.”
  • Check the box next to “Yes, permanently delete this channel,” then click “Delete Channel.”
