TABLE OF CONTENTS
Use a direct message (DM) to communicate directly with team members when you do not need the entire channel to weigh in. DMs can be useful as a substitute for an in-person, 1-1 conversation and a simple way to ask questions.
Sending Direct Messages
- Use the Compose button (pencil on paper icon).
- Type a message in the message field of any direct message.
- Send the message.
- You can use Invite on a desktop or Add People on a mobile device to add additional people to DMs.
Accessing Direct Messages
- Desktop
- Direct messages are listed in your left Sidebar. You will see your most recent DMs below Direct Messages by default.
- You can star DMs to keep track of them.
- Mobile
- From the Home tab, you will see your most recent DMs listed below Direct messages.
- To see all your DM conversations, tap the DMs tab. Scroll through your DMs and tap one to open it, or you can type someone’s name in the “Jump to…” field to quickly open a conversation. You can also star DMs to keep track of them.
