Keep in mind that user group names must be unique. If a name is already in use as a channel name, display name, or another user group's name, you will need to choose another name.



Creating a User Group

  • From your desktop, click “People” (directory icon) in the left Sidebar.
  • Click the “New user groups” icon (people icons with plus sign) in the top right.
  • Choose a name and handle for your user group. You can also set a purpose or select default channels for members to be added to.
  • Click “Next.”
  • Under Add Members, search for and select the members to add.
  • Click “Create Group.”



Editing a User Group

  • From your desktop, click “People” (directory icon) in the left Sidebar.
  • Select the “User Groups” tab.
  • Hover over the user group you want to edit and click the “Edit user groups” icon (three dots icon).
  • Choose from the following:
    • Edit group members: add or remove a user group’s members
    • Edit group details: edit a user group's name, handle, purpose, or default channels
    • Deactivate group: deactivate a user group
    • Enable group: reactivate a user group that has been deactivated
