Keep in mind that user group names must be unique. If a name is already in use as a channel name, display name, or another user group's name, you will need to choose another name.
Creating a User Group
- From your desktop, click “People” (directory icon) in the left Sidebar.
- Click the “New user groups” icon (people icons with plus sign) in the top right.
- Choose a name and handle for your user group. You can also set a purpose or select default channels for members to be added to.
- Click “Next.”
- Under Add Members, search for and select the members to add.
- Click “Create Group.”
Editing a User Group
- From your desktop, click “People” (directory icon) in the left Sidebar.
- Select the “User Groups” tab.
- Hover over the user group you want to edit and click the “Edit user groups” icon (three dots icon).
- Choose from the following:
- Edit group members: add or remove a user group’s members
- Edit group details: edit a user group's name, handle, purpose, or default channels
- Deactivate group: deactivate a user group
- Enable group: reactivate a user group that has been deactivated
