Start a Call on a Desktop

  • From a Direct Message
    • Open a DM and click the “Phone” icon in the top right corner to start your call.
    • The person you call will receive a pop-up notification.
    • When your call starts, you can switch to a video call and share your screen if your workspace is on the Standard, Plus, or Enterprise Grid plan.
    • Note: If you call someone with a Do Not Disturb message on, a missed call notification displays in the direct message.
  • From a Channel
    • Open a channel and click “Details” (information icon) in the top right.
    • Click “Call” (phone icon), and then select “Start Call.”
    • When Slack posts a call message to the channel, up to 15 members can join by clicking the “Join button.”
    • When your call starts, you can switch to a video call and share your screen if your workspace is on the Standard, Plus, or Enterprise Grid plan.



Start a Call on iOS

  • From a Direct Message
    • Open a DM and tap “Details” (information icon) in the top right.
    • Tap “Call [member’s name].”
  • From a Channel
    • Open a channel and tap “Details” (information icon) in the top right.
    • Tap “Start a Call” (phone icon).
    • (Optional) Choose a name for your call. 
    • Tap “Start.”



Start a Call on Android

  • From a Direct Message
    • Open a DM and tap “Details” (information icon) in the top right.
    • Tap “Start a call” (phone icon).
  • From a Channel
    • Open a channel and tap “Details” (information icon) in the top right.
    • Tap “Start a call” (phone icon).
    • (Optional) Choose a name for your call. 
    • Tap “Start.”



Invite People to a Call on a Desktop

  • Invite Other Members to a Call
    • Click the “Invite” icon (person with plus sign) in the top left corner of the call window.
    • Search for and select the members you want to invite to the call.
    • Click “Invite.”
  • Share a Call Link
    • Click the “Invite” icon (person with plus sign) in the top left corner of the call window.
    • Click “Copy Link” Or click “Get a link to this call.”
    • Share the call link by sending a message to a channel or DM.



Invite People to a Call on iOS or Android

  • Tap the “Invite” icon (person with plus sign) in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Tap names of people to invite.
  • Tap “Invite.”



Join a Call on a Desktop

  • Answer a Call in a Direct Message
    • When another member calls you in a direct message, you will see a pop-up notification. 
    • Click the green phone icon to answer the call.
  • Join a Channel Call
    • Click “Join” from the in-channel invitation. A call window will open where you can see who else is on the call and who is speaking.
    • When your call starts, you can switch to a video call and share your screen if your workspace is on the Standard, Plus, or Enterprise Grid plan.



Join a Call on iOS

  • Answer a Call in a Direct Message
    • When another member calls you in a direct message, you will see a pop-up call notification. 
    • Tap the “Phone” icon (or slide the arrow icon if your screen is locked) to answer the call.
  • Join a Channel Call
    • Tap “Join” from the in-channel invitation.



Join a Call on Android

  • Answer a Call in a Direct Message
    • Tap “Answer” from a call's pop-up notification or on the call message posted in a DM.
    • Tap the phone icon.
  •  Join a Channel Call
    • Tap “Join” from the in-channel invitation.
