Introduction

Playing music in your Zoom meetings is fun and easy. You will first need to utilize the screen sharing option even though you won't be actually sharing your screen.

  • Note: As of January 2022, you can only use Zoom on a desktop to play music in meeting and not on Zoom's mobile app.

Play Audio During a Zoom Meeting

First step is to launch the Zoom app on your desk computer and join a meeting.

Once you are in a meeting, click on "Share Screen"

Don't worry, you won't share your screen as soon as you click on this button.

A new window will pop open and select the "Advanced" tab.

Click on "Computer Audio" to play your desktop's system sound and then click  "Share".

Zoom will now play any sound that your computer makes in your meetings now! Any local or online music track playing on your computer can also be heard within your Zoom meetings.

When you want to stop playing the music in your meeting, click "Stop Share".

  • Note: This will only stop the music from playing and your meeting will continue as usual

Tips for When You Play Music in Zoom

First option to improve your music's quality is to make your music play in stereo mode. Click on the drop-arrow icon when you are in the "Advanced" tab and select "Stereo (High-fidelity)".

Another option is to improve your music quality by background noise suppression. Zoom suppresses any background noise in your meetings and can affect your music as well.

To bring the suppression to the lowest possible level, open Zoom and head into the profile menu > Settings > Audio

Scroll to the "Suppress Background Noise" section and select the "Low" option.
